For better of worse, 2020 was a year we are unlikely to forget any time soon. For Verge, in spite of all the upheaval and uncertainty, 2020 delivered one truly remarkable thing – a record-breaking Big Day of Giving! We were blown away by the support of our wonderful community. Through individual donations, BDOG prizes, and the generosity of a matching gift from longtime Verge supporter, Susan McClatchy, we were able to raise over $41,500 in a single day — an all-time high for Verge! We were also able to connect with over 180 individual donors from all over California, as well as some out-of-state love from as far away as Connecticut and Rhode Island.

What is truly astounding is that our average donations were relatively small — generally between $35 – $100. We can’t emphasize this particular detail enough. What it means is that, not only were folks willing to show how much they believe in who we are and what we do, but that a little truly goes a long way — even in a pandemic!

Now more than ever, Verge Center for the Arts is committed to connecting you and your family to challenging art and ideas in whatever role you play in our creative community, as a burgeoning artist, art enthusiast, career artist, or patron. Producing work of this caliber can be challenging, and is only made possible through your support.

Plus, through the generosity of the James & Susan McClatchy Fund, we have a $20,000 match to race toward! Your tax-deductible Big Day of Giving donation now has the power to go twice as far. Plan your gift and help:

  • Continue to expose the Sacramento region to internationally recognized work by contemporary artists
  • Provide scholarships to young people so that they may participate in youth education programs free of charge
  • Support our Artist-in-Residency Program, providing low cost work space and artist resources to emerging and career artists in the Sacramento region
  • Produce Sac Open Studios, Sacramento’s only county-wide art event now in its 15th year

Gifts at any level help ensure we can bring you the ambitious schedule of challenging exhibitions, inspiring youth educational offerings, and community-wide art programs you love. Your early belief in us and continued support over the years has sustained and encouraged us.

By donating on the Big Day of Giving, you’ll provide Verge with much-needed unrestricted funds, which means we’ll be able to put your dollars to work by sending them where they’re needed most, guaranteeing that Verge will continue to produce the quality programming you’ve come to expect. You help us continue to strengthen and build the Sacramento community around art and ideas as a cultural cornerstone of what makes this region great.

Thank you so much for your commitment to what Verge has established and for your past support. We look forward to seeing you at Verge in the future!
