TV Dinner: Twin Peaks
May 19, 2018
Jon Stevenson and Paulette Trainor hosted Sacramento’s premier annual art event—TV Dinner 6: Twin Peaks — at Verge Center for the Arts on Saturday, May 19th.
This year’s TV Dinner theme had us all buzzing! Guests were treated to cherry pie and “a damn fine cup of coffee” because “nothing beats the taste sensation when maple syrup collides with ham.” Their evening began at the Roadhouse with live music, specialty cocktails, and passed appetizers. From the Roadhouse, they transitioned to the Black Lodge for a multi-course dinner inspired by Twin Peaks.
Verge events, known for their unique themes and experiences, have been instrumental in inspiring a cultural movement in Sacramento that has brought both local and national attention to artists and creatives of the region. Creative soil, fertile for growth, makes way for the collaborative spirit to flourish with visual art, film, music and food, bringing increased revenue to our city. In other words, our evolving community benefits on many levels when you choose to sponsor Verge events, including our Kids Summer Studio Camp and exhibition programming.
TV Dinner brings together fine dining and interactive art for a unique experience. A collaboration between Chef Michael Thiemann and Verge, TV Dinner 6 combined video installation with a multi-course tasting menu inspired by the imagery being projected in the dining room. Thiemann is best known locally as the recent head chef of the Sellands Restaurant Group before leaving for Mill Valley to work as the Culinary Director to Food Network celebrity chef, Tyler Florence. Thiemann left that position in 2013 in order to return to Sacramento and open two restaurants on the K Street Mall, Mother and Empress Tavern.
