Satisfy your curiosity, and experience a fun and thorough introduction to throwing on the potter’s wheel. Learn the skills necessary to throw mugs, bowls, planters and more in this exciting introduction to throwing fundamentals. Your instructor guides you through the process of throwing, shaping and trimming pots on the wheel.
The class is two sessions of one and a half hours each on Saturday Sunday May 4th and Sunday May 5th from 2pm-3:30PM
The sessions include demos and hands on practice on throwing and trimming. Wheels, clay, tools, and some underglazes are provided. Firing paid separately at $5 per three items (size restrictions may apply).
About the instructor: Alejandra Calderon is the founder and co-owner of Echeri Ceramics (formerly known as Manjar Ceramics). Echeri Ceramics is a husband and wife run small business based in Sacramento. Their ceramic designs are inspired on their own culture, and drawing inspiration from traditional Mexican pottery. Alejandra was born to a Mexican immigrant family who have always believed in retaining their identity. Once in college she focused in becoming a high school art teacher. After obtaining her credentials her first job was teaching ceramics full time, and it was from there where she fell in love with clay and the different aspects of the ceramic making process, she has since never looked back.
