ALPHABETEX
Welcome to the extraordinary practice of Alphabetex: The Fusion of Martial Arts, Graffiti Art, and Yoga. In this camp, we embark on an invigorating journey that draws inspiration from three diverse genres of life – Martial Arts, Graffiti Art, and Yoga – to introduce you to a unique and athletic perspective on the aerosol art form. Graffiti art, though sometimes labeled as vandalism, takes on a new purpose in Alphabetex. Here, we aim to showcase the physical movement of aerosol art and reveal how this practice can be harnessed to regulate our emotions, transforming it into a powerful tool for self-expression. In Alphabetex, we embrace the capital letters of the alphabet as our inspiration for creativity, elevating the practice to a whole new level. Our journey through Alphabetex involves three dynamic components, each designed to unlock your inner potential and foster a deep connection between mind, body, and art. Alphabetex offers a transformative experience, where the lengthening movements of Yoga, the precision of Martial Arts, and the creative essence of the alphabet converge into an artful expression of the self. Learn more about the art of Alphabetex and its creator, Leon Willis, here.

SYMBOLIC JOURNALING & MIXED MEDIA ART
This camp is a one week practice in finding your inner voice through journaling and art therapy. Andrea will guide students through a process that they can return to repeatedly for creative inspiration, starting by hand-making paper to bind an original journal and ending with a completed artwork using mixed-media: watercolor, ink, gouache, colored-pencil, and collage.
This camp is meant to be a holistic approach to art, and treats art-making as an essential human need. Tying in ideas from philosophy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and somatic exercises, this camp provides a wealth of tools for creative youngsters to implement into their budding creative practice.
Here are some of the activities you can look forward to:
Paper making from start to finish
Dream journaling
Creating a dictionary of personal symbols
Gouache, watercolor, and ink techniques demonstration
Collage and colored-pencil techniques demonstration
Artist Affirmations
