ART CLUB was crafted by youth for youth to share space, vocalize ideas and challenge oneself to go beyond self imposed barriers. We will watch short videos and films at the beginning of each Art Club that correlate to the month’s theme and will lead us into discussion. We will occasionally have local artists from the community speak to the students as well. Gain connection with other like minded young creatives in the Sacramento community and join Verge’s ART CLUB! Art club is facilitated by our Verge High School intern and supported by Verge staff members.
This monthly event is FREE and open to all High School aged students. Students MUST register for ART CLUB before attending.
May’s Topic: Art in Activism
How can art serve as a potent instrument in activism? In what ways does an individual’s creative expression have the ability to engage and enlighten audiences, particularly during moments of urgency? Artists who harness their talents to confront political or social challenges frequently emerge as advocates for those whose voices go unheard. In this session of the art club, students will explore artists who utilize their creative endeavors to advocate for change within their communities.

Verge Center for the Arts reserves the right to cancel classes, to change instructors, and to make other changes that may become necessary to ensure a quality experience for participants. In the event that a class is canceled, we will contact all participants.
