Kids have the week off but you don’t? Send them to Verge to learn all about clay! Each session will introduce campers to the basics of hand-building, proper use of tools, and adding vibrant colors with paint. You have the option to send your camper to all 3 days or pick the days that work best for you!

2-D Handbuilding — Tiles
Create 4 custom tiles using clay! Campers will cover shapes, symmetry and patterns to create dynamic designs onto slabs of clay. Instructors will introduce campers to scoring and slipping techniques for proper assemblage. The activity will conclude with glazing pre-fired tiles.

3-D Handbuilding — Pinched Forms
Campers will learn handbuilding techniques such as pinching and coiling. Instructors will teach them how to create small pinched animal figures and then recreate them into larger forms using coils.

Wheel Throwing
Learn how to make a vessel on the potter’s wheel! Campers will each get a few hours dedicated to practicing throwing forms on a wheel with one-on-one instruction as they go.

We will fire all of the ceramic pieces made by your camper and you will be notified via email when they are ready for pick up. We will try our best to have all pieces completed before the holidays, but cannot guarantee a completion date.
Campers get an hour break for lunch between 12:00pm-1:00pm. During this time our outdoor space will be available for them to eat and play. Games and toys are provided and once or twice a week there is an instructor-led activity. Campers may bring snacks for themselves to be eaten during free time before and after camp. Water is provided but please send your camper with a water bottle.

In order to create a safe and encouraging environment for creativity, we ask that all attendees comply with Verge’s non-discrimination policy which prohibits unlawful discrimination and harassment based on race, color, gender, gender identity/expression, age, physical or mental disability, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or any other consideration made unlawful by the state or local laws. We also ask that everyone contribute positively to a safe and comfortable environment for all attendees. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who does not abide by our community standards stated above.
Cancellation and Refunds Policy
Verge Center for the Arts reserves the right to cancel classes, to change instructors, and to make other changes that may become necessary to ensure a quality experience for participants. In the event that a class is canceled, we will contact all registrants and offer the option of transferring to another available session, or receiving a full refund.
If a participant wishes to withdraw from a class, they must do so in writing at least seven days prior to the first class meeting to receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee. Withdrawals occurring within seven days prior to the first class meeting will receive a refund of 50% of the total class fee or may transfer to a class of equal or lesser value. Participants are only eligible for one transfer per registration and must get it approved by Verge staff. No refunds or transfers are given to withdrawals that occur 24 hours or less before the class begins. Membership fees are non-refundable. Please note we are unable to issue cash refunds.
