Join us for a two-day course on etching as an intaglio technique. Etching is a process using an acid and a barrier to corrode a metal plate in a controlled way to create even the most finely detailed drawing which can then be reprinted many times. In this class, students will learn how to prepare zinc plates, draw and transfer images, use less toxic copper sulfate as a corrosive, and print on etching paper. The final result will include an original etching plate to create multiples of your image! All materials are included in registration fees. New to printmaking? Beginners are encouraged to attend! This class will be held at Myrtle Press inside Verge Center for the Arts.
