Chris will teach you pencil drawing techniques to make you feel confident continuing this art form at home. When you sign up for this class, you will also receive a 1-session lab pass to our figure drawing lab so you can come back and practice the skills you learn.

About the Instructor 

Chris Koehler is an award-winning illustrator and artist from San Francisco specializing in movie posters, editorial illustration, and comics.

He has illustrated for Universal Pictures, Marvel Studios, Penguin Random House, Tor, Pentel Arts, and Popular Science and he is a regular contributor to the New York Times. His work has been recognized by Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Spectrum, and 3×3.

In addition to being a freelance brush for hire, Chris has taught in the Illustration and MFA in Comics Programs at California College of the Arts and the Art Studio at UC Berkeley, and regularly guest lectures at colleges across the country. He can often be found hunched over a sketchbook in a coffee shop.

Cancellation and Refunds Policy

Verge Center for the Arts reserves the right to cancel classes, to change instructors, and to make other changes that may become necessary to ensure a quality experience for participants. In the event that a class is canceled, we will contact all registrants and offer the option of transferring to another available session, or receiving a full refund.

If a participant wishes to withdraw from a class, they must do so in writing at least seven days prior to the first class meeting to receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee. Withdrawals occurring within seven days prior to the first class meeting will receive a refund of 50% of the total class fee. No refunds are given to withdrawals that occur 24 hours before the class begins. Transfers are not accepted after a class begins. Membership fees are non-refundable. Please note we are unable to issue cash refunds.
