Explore the unique world of Risograph printing, a stencil-based duplicator known for its vibrant colors and charm reminiscent of traditional printmaking. In this workshop, you’ll learn how the Risograph prints one color at a time using dedicated ink drums and manual registration, giving each layer a distinct vibrancy and analog-like quality.

You’ll discover how to layer transparent inks to create dynamic blends, and how the Risograph can reproduce detailed images at 600dpi, from full-color photos to intricate drawings. Fast, cost-effective, and perfect for high-volume prints, the Risograph offers a hands-on introduction to spot-color printing.

About the Instructor

Mark Alberto Romero is a 1st generation Nicaraguan-American artist currently residing in Davis, CA. He focuses on artwork inspired by Mesoamerican culture. His artwork is mainly created using graphite pencils, acrylic paints, mixed media/collaging, and digital mediums. He strives to teach his viewers about the diverse history of Mesoamerica, Pre-Columbian art and Latin America while demonstrating how complex each is. He wants others to learn about the similarities, the connections, and how different cultures have developed throughout time. He aims to revive ancient sculptures, ceramics, and even hieroglyphics, adding a modern twist to these historical artifacts. In doing so, he hopes to inspire others to appreciate and learn more about anthropology and Latin America’s rich history. He also thinks it is important to represent his Nicaraguan roots – he is inspired to create drawings for others to feel proud and to be able to explore their roots.
