Thinking about getting a jump start on setting up a home studio and learning simple yet effective techniques to photograph your artwork? This is the class for you!
In this class, you will learn creative ways to set up a makeshift studio at home, as well as practical ways to light 2D and 3D work including hard to photograph objects such as glass, jewelry and other works with reflective surfaces. Supplemental instruction will include learning how to choose the right light from any hardware store and make simple light modifiers to render the most accurate color in the photograph. Recommendations on useful photography apps and budget-friendly equipment will also be provided.
No previous photography experience is necessary, all you need to bring is the camera you currently have (yes, smartphone camera counts for this class) and a work of art you wish to photograph.

About the Instructor
Muzi Li Rowe is a visual artist who also loves working with her fellow creatives, helping them present their work professionally. While working as a photographer, she has also been teaching workshops on various aspects of photography including pinhole camera, wet plate collodion tintype and digital photography. Her favorite subject is teaching artists and makers resourceful ways to set up DIY studios and creative lighting techniques using everyday objects. Rowe received a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of Sydney, Australia and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California Davis. Rowe is the recipient of the Ali Youssefi Project 2020 Artist in Residence and has exhibited in the US, China and Australia.

Cancellation and Refunds Policy
Verge Center for the Arts reserves the right to cancel classes, to change instructors, and to make other changes that may become necessary to ensure a quality experience for participants. In the event that a class is canceled, we will contact all registrants and offer the option of transferring to another available session, or receiving a full refund.
If a participant wishes to withdraw from a class, they must do so in writing at least seven days prior to the first class meeting to receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee. Withdrawals occurring within seven days prior to the first class meeting will receive a refund of 50 percent of the total class fee. No refunds are given to withdrawals that occur 24 hours before the class begins. Transfers are not accepted after a class begins. Membership fees are non-refundable. Please note we are unable to issue cash refunds.
