Ianna Nova Frisby

Ianna Frisby is a ceramic sculptor, art professor and one of the first artists to take up residence at Verge. She continues to be an active artist in the local community and beyond, working frequently in her studio, exhibiting and teaching workshops at places like Verge. Although ceramics is her first love, her body of work includes embroidering, printmaking and mixed-media sculpture and Pysanka (Ukrainian egg-dyeing). Along with her artner, Gioia Fonda, Ianna helped run Tangent Gallery (2007-2012) and create The Art Advice Booth Project in 2016.

Professional awards include the Leff-Davis Fund for Visual Artists of the Sacramento Region Community Foundation (2016) and The Creative Initiative Grant for the Art Advice Booth Project (2018), Fine Art Juror’s Award at the 2022 California State Fair. (#goldenbear)

Ianna Frisby earned her BFA in Studio Art from Humboldt State University and her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
