Parents and Guardians,
After extensive consideration for the health and safety of the Verge community, we have decided to switch the direction of our camps into an online experience. There is a potential that as things progress we will add on a few weeks of in-person camps at the end of the Summer but we cannot yet be certain.
We are still working out the structure and specifics.
When:
This class is from July 13-17th, 2020.
Our camp schedule will change from an all-day camp to 3-hour live sessions, in the mornings, and an “open office hour” afterward.
How:
We will be using a combination of two platforms, Zoom and Edmodo. We will send you all information about setting up accounts on those two as soon as possible. Zoom will facilitate online face-to-face interactions through an iPad or computer and will serve as a tool for instruction, demonstrations, and other engagement. Edmodo will be a platform to share tutorials, videos, alternative activities etc. so parents and kids can access them anytime.
We will make a materials pack at Verge that can be picked up by guardians. In-Store Shopping & Curbside Pickup are available at Blick Art Supplies at their Howe Ave location if you would like extra supplies.
Requirements:
- Access to an Ipad or computer
- Access to the internet
- Zoom and Edmodo accounts (both are free)
- Guardian involvement for at least the first 30 minutes-1hour
- A clean working surface to make art close to the computer
Refunds and new prices:
We understand this shift is not ideal for all children and families so we will be accepting full and partial refund requests and processing them on a case-by-case basis. If you cannot join our online camps, we hope you consider making your registration fees, or part of them, a donation to Verge.
Since our hours have changed so have our prices which will now be the following:
Verge Member — $150.00
Non-member — $180.00
Add a sibling (member) — $115.00
Add a sibling (non-member) — $140.00
ABOUT THIS CLASS:
Exploring Identity through Creative Collage
Students will enjoy making expressive art projects through using mixed media materials. We will explore identity and culture through collage and drawing techniques. Through mixed media mediums such as paint, markers, and collage, this class will allow students to explore their own heritages as well as those foreign to them. Students will become empowered by their own creation and be immersed in different dialogues promoting diversity and unity. Throughout the class, the student will develop basic yet necessary skills to incorporate the three most important elements of art; color, line, and composition. Join this class to develop your art skills as well as become a global citizen.
