Artist Salon + Movie Night: “Los Angeles” from Art21

August is all about Los Angeles at Verge. Our summer exhibition The Brightsiders curated by The Pit’s Adam D. Miller closes on August 20. The exhibition brings together painting and sculpture from eighteen artists based in Los Angeles. The Brightsiders is not an attempt to define a Los Angeles aesthetic, but rather bring an aspect of the LA art community that have a shared dialogue, and conceptual interest to California’s capitol city.

So on August 17, the Thursday before the exhibition closes we have two opportunities to dig deeper:

  • At 5:30 pm we have our free monthly artist salon. The conversation will focus on the work featured in The Brightsiders
  • Then at 7:30 pm, stay inspired with a special screening of “Los Angeles” from Art21. While sprawling Los Angeles has world-class museums and art schools, artists working in the shadow of the entertainment industry are more “under the radar,” affording them the space and time to imagine. The 1 hour episode features artists Diana Thater, Liz Larner, Tala Madani, and Edgar Arceneaux.

Movie Night is free for Verge members.
Non-member admission: $7
Student/Senior: $5
