A single session to try out wheel throwing, learn the fundamentals in 3 hours and gain access to the wheels during our Clay Lab (experience is required to use the wheel during Clay Lab). Instruction includes centering the clay on the wheel and how to open and raise the form in order to create basic vessels or plates. If you already have a bit of experience, this class may help you throw more successfully. We will also spend some time discussing finishing your pieces (ie trimming and glazing). All pieces you make in this class will be bisque fired within 2 weeks. You must come back to pick up your bisqueware (fired clay pieces) within 4 weeks. You may take them home or participate in any of our Clay Lab hours that occur twice a week to glaze your pieces. You are welcome to retake this class as many times as you like.

About the Instructor
Anna Morales grew up in the outskirts of Woodland, CA on a vegetable farm where she spent most of her time digging holes and playing in the dirt. In high school, a job at an independent bookstore and coffeehouse provided an opportunity to dive into the world of art headfirst and with such an inspired world at her fingertips, she found her individual desire to create. While attending Sac City College she met her true love of ceramics in a wheel-throwing class and has been refining her craft in the medium ever since. Over the last decade in Sacramento, Anna has been a community advocate, a non-profit administrator of a safe-house for women and children, an artist and educator.
