Parents and Guardians,
After extensive consideration for the health and safety of the Verge community, we have decided to switch the direction of our camps into an online experience. There is a potential that as things progress we will add on a few weeks of in-person camps at the end of the Summer but we cannot yet be certain.
We are still working out the structure and specifics.
When:
The two committed weeks for this age ground are June 22nd-26th and July 27th-31st with Chaitra Bangalore. We are working on filling more weeks in July and August. Check back soon.
Our camp schedule will change from an all-day camp to 3-hour live sessions, in the mornings, and an “open office hour” afterward.
How:
We will be using a combination of two platforms, Zoom and Edmodo. We will send you all information about setting up accounts on those two as soon as possible. Zoom will facilitate online face-to-face interactions through an iPad or computer and will serve as a tool for instruction, demonstrations, and other engagement. Edmodo will be a platform to share tutorials, videos, alternative activities etc. so parents and kids can access them anytime.
We will make a materials pack at Verge that can be picked up by guardians. In-Store Shopping & Curbside Pickup are available at Blick Art Supplies at their Howe Ave location if you would like extra supplies.
Requirements:
- Access to an Ipad or computer
- Access to the internet
- Zoom and Edmodo accounts (both are free)
- Guardian involvement for at least the first 30 minutes-1hour
- A clean working surface to make art close to the computer
Refunds and new prices:
We understand this shift is not ideal for all children and families so we will be accepting full and partial refund requests and processing them on a case-by-case basis. If you cannot join our online camps, we hope you consider making your registration fees, or part of them, a donation to Verge.
Since our hours have changed so have our prices which will now be the following:
Verge Member — $150.00
Non-member — $180.00
Add a sibling (member) — $115.00
Add a sibling (non-member) — $140.00
About this class:
Color Around Us!
In this course, students will explore the variety of color they see in their surroundings. They will begin by developing a strong color vocabulary to navigate the different color relationships they might see. With this knowledge, students will create color wheels and spectrums to develop a strong sense of paint mixing and color exploration. Then, students will explore the creative compositions that highlight color and the variety of emotions and personalities that color can convey. Some projects in this class will include: Basic Color Wheel, A Culinary Color Spectrum, Monochromatic Portrait and Color Emphasis Painting.
About the Teaching Artist:

She works in a variety of mediums, focusing on oil painting and printmaking. As an educator, she wishes to empower students to become strong visual thinkers who can use their talents to express their own identities and invoke positive social change.
